Engagement terms

What to expect when you work with us: how the work is priced and paid for, who owns it, and what happens after delivery.

How an engagement runs

You describe your project, in our concierge or by email. A person on our team reads it and writes your quote: our AI never prices your project.

The quote is a fixed price for each phase, with what each phase delivers and what it assumes. Work starts once you accept it.

Payment milestones

There is no deposit: nothing is due before you have seen the design.

We invoice in stages, so you pay as the work moves forward:

  • 30%: When you sign off the design
  • 40%: When the first working version is ready for you to try
  • 30%: On delivery

Who owns the work

You own the code, designs and other work we create for you once the invoices for that work are paid in full.

Tools and libraries we did not write for you, such as open-source packages, stay under their own licences.

Warranty

For 30 days after delivery, we fix defects in the work we delivered at no charge. A defect is something that does not work as the quote described.

New features and changes after that are quoted separately, or covered by a hosting and care plan.

Changes along the way

Plans change, and that is fine. If you ask for something the quote does not cover, we tell you what it adds in time and cost, and nothing changes until you agree in writing.

The quote prevails

This page explains how we usually work. It is not itself a contract. Your written quote sets out the agreement for your project, and where it differs from this page, the quote prevails.
